Amazon FBA Pallet Requirements (2026 Checklist)
Sending an LTL or FTL shipment into Amazon's fulfillment network means meeting strict pallet requirements. Get one thing wrong - an overhanging box, a missing label, an over-height load - and the shipment can be refused at the dock or hit with unplanned-service fees. Here is the definitive 2026 checklist for Amazon FBA pallet requirements.
The pallet itself
- Size: 40 × 48 inches - the standard GMA (Grocery Manufacturers Association) wooden pallet. This is the only size accepted for standard palletized deliveries.
- Grade B or better - a sturdy pallet in good condition, no broken boards, protruding nails, or signs of damage.
- 4-way access - forklift and pallet-jack entry from all four sides.
- Wood construction - standard wooden pallets. Plastic pallets and non-standard materials are generally not accepted for FBA.
Height and weight limits
- Maximum height: 72 inches, including the pallet. Measure the entire loaded pallet from the floor to the top of the tallest box. (A single over-tall pallet is sometimes allowed to 80" when it is the only pallet - confirm in Seller Central.)
- Maximum weight: 1,500 lb, including the pallet. Your boxes plus the pallet's own weight must not exceed this figure.
| Spec | Limit (incl. pallet) | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Pallet size | 40 × 48 in | Fits Amazon's racking and dock equipment |
| Total height | ≤ 72 in | Rack clearance; over-height loads are refused |
| Total weight | ≤ 1,500 lb | Safe handling and rack load rating |
| Overhang | ≤ 1 in on any side | Prevents crushing and rack interference |
Stacking, wrapping and overhang
- Overhang: 1 inch maximum on any side. Boxes should sit within the pallet footprint; hanging cartons lose strength and get rejected.
- Clear stretch wrap only. Wrap the load in transparent (not colored or opaque) stretch film so labels and contents stay visible. Wrap should secure the top layer down to the pallet.
- Do not wrap over the labels. Pallet labels go on the outside of the wrap (or in a visible pouch), never buried under film.
- Stable, squared load. Boxes stacked squarely, ideally column-stacked for strength, with heavier boxes on the bottom.
Pallet labels
- Four pallet labels - one centered on each of the four sides, placed on the outside of the stretch wrap so they are scannable at the dock.
- One shipment ID per pallet. A single pallet must contain only one shipment. Do not mix multiple shipment IDs on the same pallet.
- Use the FBA pallet labels generated in Seller Central for the shipment; they carry the shipment ID and destination.
Carton (box) requirements
The individual boxes on the pallet have their own rules:
- Corrugated construction: ECT-32 or 200 lb burst strength minimum. Single-wall B-flute corrugate at this grade is the baseline for standard cartons.
- Weight: 50 lb max for standard multi-item boxes. Boxes over 50 lb must carry a "Team Lift" label; over 100 lb require a "Mechanical Lift" label.
- Dimensions: no single side longer than 25 inches for standard boxes (oversized units are handled separately).
- One FNSKU-labeled product set per box, box content and quantity matching the shipment plan.
Quick pre-ship checklist
- Pallet: 40×48, Grade B+, 4-way, wood
- Height: ≤ 72" total (floor to top)
- Weight: ≤ 1,500 lb total
- Overhang: ≤ 1" any side
- Wrap: clear stretch film, labels on the outside
- Labels: 4 pallet labels, one per side; one shipment ID per pallet
- Boxes: ECT-32 / 200 psi burst, ≤ 50 lb, no side over 25"
- Authorization: floor-loading only if pre-approved

What size pallet does Amazon FBA require?
A standard 40×48-inch GMA wooden pallet, Grade B or better, with 4-way forklift access. This is the accepted size for standard palletized FBA deliveries.
What is the maximum pallet height for Amazon FBA?
72 inches including the pallet, measured from the floor to the top of the tallest box. A single pallet may sometimes go taller when it is the only pallet in the shipment - confirm the current rule in Seller Central.
What is the Amazon FBA pallet weight limit?
1,500 lb including the weight of the pallet itself. Your boxes plus the pallet must stay under this figure.
How much overhang is allowed on an FBA pallet?
No more than 1 inch of overhang on any side. Boxes should sit within the 40×48 footprint; overhanging cartons lose strength and can be refused.
How many labels does an FBA pallet need?
Four pallet labels - one centered on each of the four sides, placed on the outside of the clear stretch wrap so they can be scanned. Each pallet carries only one shipment ID.
What are the box (carton) requirements?
Corrugated boxes rated ECT-32 or 200 lb burst strength minimum, no more than 50 lb for standard multi-item boxes, and no single side longer than 25 inches. Heavier boxes need Team Lift or Mechanical Lift labels.
Can I floor-load boxes instead of palletizing?
Only with prior authorization from Amazon. Without pre-approval, floor-loaded (non-palletized) LTL/FTL deliveries are not accepted, so plan for palletized shipping.
